Track II Dialogue Initiative
Building Regional Consensus for Stability, Peace, and Security
The Andiana Foundation's Track II Dialogue Initiative is focused on Afghanistan and its region, with an emphasis on stability, peace, and security. So far, four sessions have been convened between 2025-2026. These meetings brought together peace and security specialists, civil society practitioners, former diplomats, journalists, and scholars from Afghanistan and six other South and Central Asian countries. The Andiana Foundation's Track II Dialogue Initiative is intended to create a shared understanding of regional security challenges exacerbated by Taliban control in Afghanistan, and to generate new concepts for a regional mechanism that can actively engage key stakeholders in efforts to bring lasting stability to Afghanistan and peace with its neighbors.

Organized by the Andiana Foundation, as a component of a political process for Afghanistan, a Track II dialogue focused on Afghanistan and its region, with an emphasis on stability, peace, and security held its fourth session on July 9, 2026. Organized by the Andiana Foundation as the first of a three-part series, peace and security specialists, civil society practitioners, former diplomats, journalists, and scholars from Afghanistan and five other South/Central Asian nations held a Track II dialogue in mid-July. The session focused on regional security, with the view that a Taliban-held Afghanistan exacerbates existing threats related to human rights, extremism and terrorism, migration, international organized crime, and climate vulnerability.
